The editor is built for scientific reports, not just quick notes. This page covers the basics and the figure and data tools.

Formatting basics

Use the toolbar, or standard Markdown, for:

Bold and italic
Headings — every ## Heading becomes a jump point in the page's Sections navigation, so long reports stay easy to move through
Bulleted and numbered lists
Blockquotes and inline code
Links

Images & figures

Add a figure whichever way is fastest:

Click the image button in the toolbar and pick a file
Paste an image straight from your clipboard
Drag and drop it into the editor

Images upload to storage and embed as a captioned figure. Exported plots (PNG or SVG from matplotlib, seaborn, and the like) are just images — bring them in the same way.

Image collages

To show several images together, click the collage button in the toolbar and pick them — or drop several images in at once. Then choose a layout from the collage's own toolbar:

Grid — equal tiles, cropped to fit
Row — side by side at the same height, nothing cropped
Feature — the first image large, the rest stacked beside it
Masonry — columns of images at their natural shape

Reorder or remove an image with the buttons in its corner, add more with + Images, and give the collage a caption. Readers can click any image to see it full size and step through the rest with the arrow keys. In Markdown, a collage is a fenced block:

:::collage row Before and after the fix
![before](before.png)
![after](after.png)
:::

Interactive plots

Write a fenced vega block with a Vega-Lite spec — your data plus how to draw it. Readers get a live plot they can hover and zoom, and the data stays with the page:

{
  "data": {"values": [
    {"stage": "Ingest",   "rps": 920},
    {"stage": "Features", "rps": 340},
    {"stage": "Train",    "rps": 120},
    {"stage": "Eval",     "rps": 610}
  ]},
  "mark": "bar",
  "encoding": {
    "x": {"field": "stage", "type": "nominal"},
    "y": {"field": "rps",   "type": "quantitative"}
  }
}

Diagrams

Write a fenced mermaid block to describe nodes and edges — good for pipelines and architecture:

flowchart LR
  A[Raw data] --> B[Feature store] --> C[Training] --> D[Evaluation]

Equations

Write LaTeX inline with \( ... \), or as a centered display block with $$ ... $$:

$$ \mathcal{L}(\theta) = \frac{1}{N}\sum_{i=1}^{N} \ell\big(y_i,\, f_\theta(x_i)\big) + \lambda\lVert\theta\rVert_2^2 $$

Attachments

PDFs, datasets (CSV/TSV), and other files attach to a page through a supplementary folder (below). Each attachment shows its size and offers Open and Download. Large files are compressed at rest to save space; you always get the original back when you open or download.

Supplementary folders

Some material belongs with a page but not in it — raw notes, derivations, extra figures, datasets, the papers you read along the way. Keep it in supplementary folders at the end of the page:

In the editor, below the page body, click + Add folder and give it a name
Write in a folder just like the page itself — the toolbar works there too
Attach files to a folder, or drop them straight onto it
Bring in a whole folder from your computer — drop it anywhere in the editor, or click Upload folder… — and it arrives as a supplementary folder with everything in it, each subfolder's files under a heading
Readers see each folder closed under Supplementary at the end of the page, and open only the ones they want

Folders are tucked away, not private: anyone who can see the page can open them. In Markdown, a folder is a fenced block:

:::folder Raw data
Notes, figures, or attached files go here.
:::

Categories & access

Set the page's category from the editor, or add a new one inline. The category controls who can see the page — public categories are visible to everyone, and anything else is only visible to accounts the admin has granted that category.

An admin can move a published page the same way: pick a different category and publish. Its images and files go with it.

Example folder

This is a supplementary folder. It stays closed until a reader opens it, so the page above reads cleanly while the extra material is one click away.
